Having a “white trash” name sucks

My first name is Crystal. I cannot count the number one times characters in media have been named Crystal/Krystal and they are ALWAYS portrayed as drug addicts, gold diggers, homeworkers, “trailer trash”, etc. They’re usually ditzy or just plain uneducated. On top of it, I have a southern accent which often reads as ignorant to people despite the fact that I’m college educated and have a pretty good CV if I’m being honest.

It’s frustrating to feel like the entire country will always assume you’re stupid because of your name and accent. I don’t hate my name itself, I just hate what society has decided it represents. It’s always the butt of the joke.
