Songs of the Past and the Shores of Cidaris

With the announcement of the new expansion, Songs of the Past, and hints (most likely misinterpreted) that it will take place in a new location, speculation and rumors about Cidaris being featured have already begun.

Now, this is just rumor and speculation, so don’t take it as absolute truth or a confirmed fact. That being said, if you’re like me and curious about this kingdom and where it lies, I’m posting a detailed map of the Continent made by u/nolankotulan to help you locate it. You will find Cidaris, a small kingdom ruled by King Ethain, on the western shore of the Continent. It lies southwest of Temeria, below Gors Velen.

Its capital is Cidaris, an old seaside city that serves as a hub of maritime trade and is renowned for its bazaars. I’m also posting a beautifully crafted map of the city, imagined and created by u/ResidentFunkle. Here’s a link to their original post.

Since the title of the new expansion is Songs of the Past, there there has also been speculation about the role and importance of Dandelion. Unlike the speculation that he originally came from Cidaris, he does, in fact, have a canonical and rather humorous connection to the kingdom that is often overlooked.

Cidaris is home to his rival poet and musician, Valdo Marx. Dandelion’s first wish upon finding the djinn’s bottle was for the djinn to strike Valdo with apoplexy.
