New job in credit- worried about errors.
Hello, I started a credit/AR role about 2.5 months ago and I’m really stressed about a situation at work. I’d appreciate some perspective on whether this is actually as bad as it feels. I am taking a week long vacation, but I cannot stop thinking about this situation..
I’ve been handling credit limits (CL) for customers and recently there were multiple adjustments on one account in a short time period (something like 160k → 240k → 250k → 270k → 210k final).
This happened because I:
initially used incorrect/mixed forecast data between clients,
later updated based on pricing changes and AR exposure,
and kept adjusting as I tried to reconcile the correct exposure.
On top of that, I realized I also made a procedural mistake by releasing a delivery slightly earlier than our policy buffer like 4 days, whereas there are some receivables to be due like mid-June before the delivery.
Now I’m also worried because everything will show up in the monthly report.
My fear is that: t
The multiple CL changes will look chaotic,
the order release will be seen as a policy violation,
and the exposure might raise concerns in audit/management review.
Final CL is now corrected, but I’m anxious that this whole situation will reflect badly on me since I’m still very new in the role.
Has anyone experienced something similar early in a credit/risk/AR position? How seriously is this usually taken in practice?
