Baldur's Gate III issue during multiplay

While playing in multiplayer with a friend of mine, we ran into a problem of not being able to change our appearances in the mirror at all (we could pick different options, but the "Confirm" button wouldn't work). We tried reloading the game, even the laptop, but nothing seemed to help. Before that, I was playing with mods, but since my friend is playing on NVIDIA GeForce NOW (cloud gaming) and doesn't have the game downloaded, I had to turn them off. I think that is when the problem started. Has anyone ever had this problem? What could be the issue and how could we possibly solve it? Thanks!
