Troubleshooting Steam and Repairing OS

Support

Hi, so I am having trouble with Steam. It will just pop up the loading icon on the mouse and then it stops without opening Steam. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it. I've tried uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling, and then rebooting again. I've tried to gtk-launch it but it won't show any errors or anything. I then also tried the nvidia troubleshooting fix of removing these two lines in the steam.desktop files:

PrefersNonDefaultGPU
X-KDE-RunOnDiscreteGpu

I am currently running an nvidia 1060 with the 580.142 driver, and I have a ryzen 5 3600 with 16GB of RAM.

Is there a way to attempt to open steam in the konsole to get an error log?

There was also a button on the older version of the updater that would check and repair the OS. Is there an equivalent that I'm just not seeing in the new updater?

Before anyone says anything, I can't exactly afford a new GPU yet, and I know that this GPU is not officially supported. It's been working for awhile now, but it just started messing up yesterday. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
