Moving to Copenhagen from the UK: job search advice for GDPR/data rights background
Hi all,
I’m planning to move from the UK to the Copenhagen area in the coming months, having recently had my Danish residence card approved as the family member of a Danish citizen returning to Denmark under EU rules.
Housing is already moving along, so the main thing I’m focusing on now is the job search.
I currently work in data rights, GDPR and public sector casework in the UK. I’m at the early stages with Danish, so I’m being realistic about where my experience might transfer. I’m hoping my background may be relevant to international companies, English speaking environments, information governance, compliance, privacy or case management roles while I build up the language properly.
For anyone working in or around Copenhagen:
Where are the best places to look for roles beyond LinkedIn?
Are there particular sectors or companies where English speaking compliance/privacy roles are more realistic?
Does UK public sector or GDPR experience tend to translate well in Denmark?
Is there anything worth doing before the move to improve my chances?
Any practical advice would be really appreciated
