Split night questions! Help!

9 - 16 weeks

So we’re at 14 weeks- and holy crap this is literally the first time she’s ever had a “split night”. She slept her usual first long stretch of 4 hours from around 8pm to 12am. And then for some reason she was fully awake at 12am while I was feeding her. While she was drinking her milk all wide-eyed all I could think was “oh no.” And sure enough, it was a struggle getting her back down and here we are, 1.5 hours later and I finally got her down for who knows how long now. My question now is, how do I make up for her sleep in the following day? Surely this compounds if this starts to become a trend right? Do I just increase daytime naps for a little bit? At this age, it’s hard to say whether this is the 4month regression or a leap correct?

The only difference in day schedule today compared to other days was we pushed up bedtime slightly. She’s usually down around 9-9:30pm (with a delayed start to the day around 7am). However, it wasn’t uncommon for us to be down at 8:30pm some nights as well, and those were fine too. But as soon as we attempted 8pm, I guess all hell broke loose. I pushed up bedtime because I wanted to see if that would help with her early morning wakeups of around 5-5:30am. We still capped her total naps at 3.5 hours, which tbh she’s never had split nights or anything when she was at 4-4.5 hour naps, and we’ve had 3 hour nap days too which didnt seem to affect much. That’s why I’m wondering if it’s just the regression or a leap that’s causing this all of a sudden. But again, more so just looking to see how we should be going about our days now if this starts to become a thing where she’s having these wide awake moments at night and losing hours of night sleep. How do I make up for it without creating more of a split night habit?
