how accurate is the the lore used in this recent chapter in mexico city? how are we feeling about the chapter in general??

I'm not very informed on latin american mythology and culture but I really am interested on the accuracy of it within the story. like how much of it is real and how much of it is fabricated? I just started and I don't mind spoilers to any extent but I quickly got curious about the symbolism used and the turquoise serpent's club, is there actually any genuine historical substance to the story or are they pulling it out of their ass? I've heard criticism about the voice acting and I remember the response to the brazil update was quite negative (for fair reason I suppose) so I wanted to focus on details of the plot and use of setting in more culturally diverse chapters like these.
