Purchasing 916 ring in SG jewel shop

Hi Fellow Redditors,

Recently, I wanted to purchase gold rings for the first time in my life, but was told by one of the staffs of a jewellery shop that there are no new stocks and everything is on display, unless you customise your ring then it's brand new.

But I try to withhold from impulse-buying first because coming from retail background, once there was a senior who would tell me to say that we don't have new pieces, when customers ask if we have new pieces for a particular item, when indeed the store room has new pieces for the item they want.

Coming from retail background, there are AT LEAST a few quantities of new stocks for a particular item.

But on the other hand, I wonder if it is because this time round is gold and not retail items like furniture, garment, household items, and that's why the stocks are more limited?

Can any experienced jewellery seller and buyer share how does it work here, especially for purchasing 916K ring? Like in GOLDHEART, SK Jewellery, etc. Thank you in advance! 🙏🏻
