a creepy encounter at a tram stop in helsinki
I am a traveller in helsinki, i have always thought helsinki is quite safe and I have not seen anyone looking weird like a bogan, but this happened at around 6pm, in bright day light.
yesterday, I finished my icecream but didn't have time to throw away the stick before getting on a tram, so I put the stick in my mouth for 2 tram stops. when i got off the tram at välimerenkatu , literally the moment i stepped outside of the tram, there was this middle aged guy staring at me, angry looking, not very well dressed like an office worker, he was staring at me for the entire time, stared at me when i threw the icecream stick away, he was still staring when i was crossing the road and walking away. when i already crossed the road, i took a brief glimpse at him and he was still staring at me, said like 2-3 words that i didn't understand. that was the first time i felt unsafe in helsinki.
can anyone tell me is it because i have a icecream stick in my mouth so the guy was angry because he thought i had icecream on the tram? or just that sometimes there are crazy people like that in helsinki? or is there a possibility that he is racist because im ethnically asian? i start to feel a bit paranoid getting on the tram.
