Decodo releases an official TypeScript SDK for its web scraping API

Developers working with web data might have noticed a new repository on GitHub. Decodo, the specialized web scraping platform that evolved from Smartproxy's scraping division, recently published @decodo/sdk-ts. It is a strongly typed SDK designed to interact directly with their Web Scraping API. For anyone tired of writing raw HTTP requests, constructing query strings manually, and defining custom TypeScript interfaces from scratch, this release is a useful addition.

Most developers who do heavy scraping know that managing proxy rotation, bypassing CAPTCHAs, and handling JavaScript rendering is incredibly painful. Decodo handles those infrastructure challenges on their backend, but at the application level, you still have to structure the payloads and parse the responses correctly. This SDK aims to solve that developer-side boilerplate.

What the SDK actually brings to the table

Instead of relying on generic HTTP clients like Axios or Fetch, the SDK provides pre-defined TypeScript interfaces for Decodo's specific target APIs. This is particularly helpful because Decodo does not just scrape raw HTML. They offer tailored endpoints for several major platforms:

  • Structured search engine results (SERP), which return formatted JSON for Google and Bing queries rather than raw page layouts.
  • eCommerce targets, specifically structured product data from Amazon, Walmart, and Target.
  • Social media platforms like TikTok, Reddit, and YouTube.
  • AI-specific targets, which generate clean, token-efficient Markdown output designed specifically to feed into LLMs and AI agents.

By having these targets strongly typed, your editor can autocomplete parameters like geographic location, browser rendering options, or specific query formats. This reduces the trial-and-error cycle of figuring out why an API request returned a bad payload.

Improving the integration workflow

For teams building AI agents or complex data pipelines, the SDK fits into a broader shift toward structured, LLM-friendly web retrieval. Decodo has been expanding their integration ecosystem lately, having previously released LangChain packages and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers. This new TypeScript library serves as the core foundation for those tools, allowing developers to build custom scraping integrations without the overhead of external agent frameworks.

The library is lightweight and focuses strictly on typed API calls. This is a welcome change from bloated SDKs that try to handle state or orchestrate complex scraping workflows on their own.

  • No complex configuration is required beyond standard API credentials.
  • The types map directly to Decodo's documented API endpoints.

If you are already using Decodo's scraping API, swapping out raw fetch calls for the typed SDK is a relatively straightforward way to make your codebase more maintainable. If you are just exploring options for structured web scraping, the repository is open on GitHub under the Decodo organization for anyone to check out.
