Nice little detail in Kill Team: Terror on Devlan

The latest Kill Team installment, which pits an elite Imperial Guard team - Spectre Squad, Call Sign Jester - against the iconic Tyranid bioform the Red Terror has some pretty cool bits of lore, so I might make a longer post about it later on.

But I just wanted to flag one nice little detail for now.

The Spectre Squad have been tasked with tracking down and eliminating the Red Terror, which has been sowing panic and chaos on the planet Devlan, disrupting Imperial attempts to evacuate before a Hive Fleet arrives.

Already a crack team, the importance of the mission sees them given extra operational flexibility and support. We are told:

They are to be given air support, operational lattitude, all available intelligence and additional supporting prayers.

Kill Team: Terror on Devlan Dossier (2026), p. 8.

The bit about "additional supporting prayers" made me chuckle.

It's nice to see the religious nature of the Imperium actually get acknowledged (and it is elsewhere in this dossier, too), and the fact that additional prayers are perhaps suggested to be deemed as important as air support and intell is a great touch.

This also brought to mind, at least for me, the whole "thoughts and prayers" rhetoric which has become so prevalent in recent years. And, spoiler alert, >!it is heavily suggested that the additional prayers didn't end up working, as the Red Terror seems to have survived and escaped on a fleeing Imperial craft to terrorize another world.!<
