HUMMS or STEM?

‎Hi, I'm Ralph, magsi-16 years old, and sa totoo lang, I’m facing one of the hardest decision of my life right now. Senior High School is just around the corner, but I’m still stuck at a major crossroads. Ever since bata palang ako, drawing has been my passion. My ultimate dream is to become a Commercial Architect... designing massive infrastructures and modern buildings... while also working as a comic writer and artist on the side.

Pero back then, I also loved History, Literature, and Geography, which made me want to be an AP Teacher or an Author too. ‎ ‎Now, reality is hitting me hard. Kailangan ko ng pumili ng strand, and this is where the struggle begins. My top choice is still Architecture, so logically, I should take STEM. But here’s the problem: kulelat talaga ako sa Math and Science. I know for a fact that I will struggle big time.

STEM focuses heavily on those subjects, and I’m terrified na baka hilahin lang pababa ng grades ko ang general average ko. What if I lose my chance to get into a good university, or worse, what if I just burn out and give up on my dream? ‎ ‎On the other hand, there’s HUMSS. I don’t want to sound arrogant, but I know my strengths. Pagdating sa HUMSS subjects, confident ako na kaya kong mag-excel and even top the class. Writing, history, and literature are my comfort zones.

Pero ang malaking kinaka-takot ko, if I choose HUMSS, parang isinasara ko na rin ang pinto sa pagiging Architect. It feels like I'm taking the easy way out and abandoning my dream. ‎ ‎So now, I'm completely torn. Should I choose the path where I'm already good at and guaranteed to excel? Or should I choose the path where I will definitely struggle, but I'll learn something new that connects directly to my dream? I'm stuck between my safe zone and my growth zone.
