I got a helix in maybe mid- 2023, titanium flat back bar, and i wanted it to be a low helix, and the piercer said i had a vein right under it so he did it the lowest he could safely. ( i went to a professional piercing place) and i was really excited for it and tried my best to heal it nicely , I used sea salt spray and made sure to not sleep on it ( which was really hard bc I slept on my right side my whole life).

But every single time it was looking better, I somehow hit it😭😭 either by my brother when we fight, from seatbelts or unintentionally sleeping on it.

It was so frustrating how it kept getting irritated and i really tried so hard to heal it. I never touched it and was very gentle with it.

Now, it still got irritated once in a while, and it gets like hot and red and slightly swollen. It got quite irritated like a week ago and thats when I decided I NEED to take it out, like I cannot go on with this bar in my ear dude😭

And my main mistake was not downsizing, bc the bar was pretty long and I just never got to it. Every time it got swollen I thought that downsizing would not be good bc then my ear wont have enough bar area to be swollen in. I think the problem was that I told my piercer that I'd like to switch it to a ring when it heals and she told me in about 3 months i can come and she'll check on it and maybe switch it to a ring. I didn't come ( I think i forgot or was busy with school) and basically just forgot about my helix for some time, except when it was irritated.

I honestly dont wanna get another piercing in my life anymore, even though they do look cool ig my body just doesn't really like them anyways and im a pretty low maintenance person. My two lobe piercings also gave me a really hard time when healing but they eventually healed and i switched them to rings, and i think thats enough for me.

Anyways Rip my helix🥀💔
