Do motif pieces drop from excavations?

On some styles's description on UESP wiki, like Kindred's concord and Firesong, it says that they can sometimes be found while doing excavations.

I'm just curious, is that really true ? I don't think I've ever seen any other mention of this happening besides the UESP page.
