College and branch choice advice for consulting IIT

My rank is ~10k and I'm having the following options: IITKGP Metallurgical, Biotechnology; IITR Metallurgical, Bioengineering; IITH industrial chemistry, Metallurgical, Biotech; IITBHU materials science, industrial chemistry, metallurgical, etc and other similar branches in comparable IITs.

I'm non-core placement focused especially consulting, finance, etc and want to choose IIT and branch on the basis of academic workload, free time to prepare for placements, etc along with maximizing career opportunities, flexibility, networking, and overall college life.

Would especially appreciate insights from current IIT students or people who've seen non-core placements closely
