Dr. Dabber Switch GO Review (200 Sessions): A Smaller Switch 2
TL;DR: After about 200 sessions with the Dr. Dabber Switch Go, it nearly matches the Switch 2 on vapor quality in a smaller, $90-cheaper, more portable package. Same "no atomizer to replace" architecture, same app, smarter ergonomics. This is the new default eRig for most people.
NOTES
- Retails for $330 from Dr. Dabber's official store or $330 from vgear.com, which also gives free terp pearls, fast shipping, and discounted bundles.
- I also released a more detailed version of this review (with a video) on my website.
- I have a $50 coupon code for the Switch 2 for a final price of $370 for anyone interested. It's on the review page on my website.
FACTS
- Heating System: Dual parallel mesh resistance heating from the sides AND bottom of a titanium chamber, paired with a contact RTD temperature sensor. Replaces the Switch 2's induction + IR setup.
- Heating Element: Titanium chamber + quartz insert. The titanium chamber never touches the extract, same architectural benefit as the Switch 2.
- Insert: Quartz cup included. Optional Sapphire Plus insert ($100+) available at launch. Available from Dr.Dabber official or from VGEAR.COM. See it in the first picture below.
- App + Firmware: Same app as the Switch 2, which has matured a lot. Meaningful firmware updates over the past year (temp accuracy, cleaning assist cycle at 100°F) carry over to the Go.
- Bubbler: Recessed into the body for stealth and durability.
- Testing Duration: Around 200 sessions over a couple of months.
PROS
- Vapor Quality: Nearly identical to the Switch 2. When I beta-tested the Go I used it for weeks thinking it was still induction. That close.
- No Atomizer to Replace: The titanium chamber is the heating element, the quartz bowl is just a (relatively) cheap, swappable liner. Same architecture as the Switch 2. Easily saves $200/year vs. coil-based devices like the Puffco Peak Pro or Carta Sport where the bowl and coil are fused and eventually fail.
- Form Factor: Genuinely portable. The Switch 2 is a desk piece. The Go disappears into a backpack pocket.
- Carb Cap Air Holes Underneath: Impossible to block with your finger mid-session. Small thing, real quality-of-life upgrade over the Switch 2.
- One-Step Chamber Access: Top cover removes without pulling the glass first.
CONS
- Smaller Chamber: Built for solo use. If you load large amounts, share your device, or do aggressive sessions- the Switch 2 handles that more comfortably.
- Hot Knife Required: The chamber is thin enough that clean loading without one is rough. Budget ~$40 extra unless you already have one, or grab a VGEAR bundle.
PERFORMANCE
- Extraction Quality: Consistent and dense, basically the same as the Switch 2 for normal loads at normal temps.
- Heat Management: RTD sensor reads real chamber temp and adjusts in real time. Slight edge to the Switch 2 only at the heavy-use end (consistently high temps, big loads, shared sessions).
- Flavor: Clean. Quartz insert plus a heating element that never touches the extract means no off-tastes session to session.
- Consistency: No drop-off across 200 sessions. Same vapor at session 5 and session 200.
- Power Efficiency: Resistance heating is simpler and more power-efficient than the Switch 2's induction system. The Go uses less power for the same result.
BOTTOM LINE For most people, skip the Switch 2 and get the Switch Go. Practically the same vapor quality, smarter ergonomics in most places, smaller profile, and $90 cheaper. The Switch 2 still makes sense if you're a power user who needs the bigger chamber or regularly maxes out the device on shared sessions. But for everyday solo use, this is the new default in the best electric dab rigs category. Big-boy performance at $330.
