Hardware Founders Are Building the Future (Literally)
Hey founders!
Been digging into some of the top hardware startups to watch in 2026. It's a good reminder that building physical products is alive and thriving. Thought I'd share a few that stood out for anyone who needs a little inspiration today.
A few that caught my eye:
- Sense (Cambridge, MA) – Built a smart home energy monitor that uses ML to track individual appliances so you can cut your energy bills. Bootstrapped patience pays off — they've been at it since 2013.
- Pano (San Francisco) – AI-powered cameras giving 360° wildfire surveillance and catching smoke early. Solving a genuinely massive problem.
- Oxide Computer (Emeryville, CA) – Reinventing the server from scratch, hardware and software as one unit. Bold swing at a market everyone said was locked up.
- Mira (Pleasanton, CA) – At-home fertility hormone tracking, putting real reproductive health data in women's hands.
- MatX (Silicon Valley) – Ex-Google folks building chips purpose-made for LLMs to make AI faster and cheaper.
What hit me is the range — founders solving everything from wildfires to fertility to energy waste. Different cities, different funding stages (some Series A, some scrappy and early), but all chasing real problems with real products.
If you're grinding on a hardware idea and feeling like software gets all the love — keep going. The hard stuff is exactly where the durable companies get built. 💪
