Arsenal’s only offensive production was a lucky handball counter?
Could we stop with the open play narrative (the only team that scored on open play was arsenal). Like come on, the only offensive production of Arsenal in 120min was a lucky handball counter on a midfield clearance, and that’s what Arsenal fans are proud about?
On the other side, despite Arsenal parking the bus and wasting 1 min per throw in, PSG hit the post, produced a penalty that could’ve been a red card (everyone knows it including Arteta, that’s why he subs Mosquera 1 min later) in a position in which Kvara scored many goals this season.
So if we compare open play situations:
- Kvara facing the goal having passed his defender, 12 meters from the goal (PSG)
- Barcola hit the post (PSG)
- Vitinha’s shot facing the goal, nearly up (PSG)
- Arsenal: midfield clearance counter by handball
So this narrative of “open play” is just an excuse for Arsenal fans to keep being delusional. Their hysteric delusion is so intense that they’ve resorted to defending this narrative: scoring on a midfield handball clearance counter.
Considering the respective offensive productions for 120min, we know psg will always tend to score more goals per min than arsenal. So we know Arsenal will never dominate 90min against psg, and can’t even win by fluke. By a huge handball fluke, they were luckily gifted the absolute best scenario that they can dream of: an early goal and parking the wasting 1 min per throw in from minute 10. Even with this absolute best scenario AND an insane luck, they couldn’t win and were dominated, concluding a goal and a post. We know next psg-Arsenal games will be very unlikely to have this combination of lucky factors heavily favoring Arsenal, and we know psg actually dominates over the course of 90min. Arsenal is absolutely losing upcoming ties against psg.
