I don't care if someone is a hypocrite as long as they are actually making the world better.

People treat hypocrisy like it’s a complete checkmate. It’s not. It's just a lazy way to avoid engaging with an actual point.

Take the classic example: some ultra-rich celebrity flies on a private jet while lecturing everyone about climate change. Yes, obviously they're a hypocrite. It’s annoying. But if that same celebrity uses their massive platform to get 100k people to actually care about the environment, vote differently, or change their habits, the net outcome is still a massive win.
Like, why do we care more about the moral purity of one single person than the actual results of their message? In fact, I don’t even think that is hypocritical in the first place. A lot of celebrities probably have to fly privately for their own safety.

It’s the same idea as a doctor who smokes telling you to quit smoking. Yeah, they aren’t practicing what they preach. But the advice is still 100% correct. If you ignore medical advice just because the guy giving it is a hypocrite, that’s a fallacy.

People need to stop focusing so much on the messenger and look at the actual impact. If a hypocrite manages to change culture or fix a problem, they still did more good than the guy sitting on the sidelines doing nothing but pointing fingers. Results > personal consistency.
