Current visa likely to expire before BM visa results are in

Hello,

Hope you’re having a good day!
I’m a little worried as I applied for the business manager visa (before the rules changed) around October 2025.

I haven’t heard a thing and it’s been VERY long (I won’t go into specifics in order to uphold the guidelines here), and I was told it could take much longer to get approval.

My J-FIND visa will expire in October this year…
I’m not sure what to do.
Should I get a full-time job and stay in Japan?
Or go back the U.S. and wait for the business manager visa results?(not ideal since that means my Japanese bank accounts will be locked, I have an on-going apartment rental agreement, and would prefer to stay)

Has anyone experienced anything similar? I wasn’t sure what the protocol is and if I have to leave Japan immediately upon the expiration if I’m waiting on the results which will not come any time soon.

Any thoughts would be a huge help…!
