Insomnia on even a lowish dose?
Hi all! I've been on tirz for about 20 weeks now. Lost about 13 pounds so far (I started at 242 at 5'4 so I have a ways to go). I'm happy with this rate, however it seems like I'm having trouble finding a balance between a high enough dose to keep food noise away, and a low enough dose to keep side effects (mainly insomnia) away.
The highest I've gone so far is 5.0mg. I had to back down after about 2 weeks because my resting heart rate was in the 80s (usually in the 70s for me), I had skin sensitivity, zero libido, and I couldn't sleep through the night. The heart rate didn't bother me since I've read that up to 10bpm isn't too concerning, and the skin sensitivity wasn't too bad either. The libido was annoying but not life or death. I would have tried to push through if it were only those, but the insomnia... I can't do it 😂
I went back to about 3.5 and have been slowly titrating up as needed. My food noise and hunger was pretty bad a couple of weeks ago, hence the 4.5 I'm on now. Even 4.0 just wasn't cutting it anymore.
This week has been great hunger wise. No longer craving only but sweets; I feel hungry but in a sensible way. BUT I CAN'T SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT! It's so frustrating. I have a hard enough time falling asleep, but I finally do and then I wake up around 5am (I usually get up around 7) wide awake and can't go back to sleep.
This isn't the first medication to do this to me. I have adhd and tried straterra on 2 different occasions for about 2 weeks and had to quit both times for the same reason.
I guess my question is, if yall were in my shoes, would you go back down to 4.0 next week knowing the food noise may come back, or try to get your body used to 4.5? Try 4.25? Or have you had this specific problem and found something to help with the insomnia?
