Why West End Watch became so popular in the Middle East and South Asia

One of the most interesting parts of West End Watch history is how strong the brand became outside Europe.

West End built a strong presence in markets like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and across the Middle East. This was largely due to Swiss export strategy in the early to mid 1900s, where reliable and affordable Swiss watches were distributed widely through trading networks.

The brand positioned itself as durable, accurate, and accessible compared to higher priced Swiss brands. This made it ideal for everyday wear in hot climates and demanding environments.

Over time, West End became less of a “luxury Swiss watch” and more of a trusted daily companion, which is why it still has strong recognition in these regions today.

It is one of the few Swiss brands where heritage is stronger outside Europe than inside it.
