Stop paying 24/7 for scrapers that run every few hours
Most scraping jobs run on a cadence, every few hours, nightly, hourly, but a normal VPS bills you around the clock whether it's working or idle. That idle time adds up fast once you're running a few of them.
I built Krova (krova.cloud) partly to scratch this itch. Disclosure: I'm the founder. It runs lightweight VMs on Firecracker (the micro-VM tech behind AWS Lambda) and bills only for the minutes a VM actually runs. Sleep one between runs and compute billing stops, you just pay a few cents for disk. Wake-from-sleep is near instant since the VM resumes from memory, so a "wake → scrape → sleep" loop is cheap and fast.
It keeps its disk across sleeps (your cache, cookies, installed deps persist), has a browser terminal, and ships Ubuntu/Debian/Docker images. To be clear about scope: this is the compute/cost layer, you still bring your own proxies/IP rotation, it doesn't solve that part.
Curious how people here handle scheduled scrapers today, do you keep a box running 24/7, use serverless and fight the cold-disk problem, or something else?
