What degrees will help me out?

I’m a newly Australian citizen (from Ukraine but not an international student) I’m 18 years old and a few months off from graduating I’ve done very well in school here, I want to attend university in Australia but don’t really know what your system is like, I come from a poor family and want to work in a career that compounds over time, and I just have some questions.

1. Does uni prestige really matter? I would like to move back to Europe if possible and i was wondering if any of your unis carry any real weight in the prestige department

2. What uni degrees are worth it? My parents didn’t graduate high school so I don’t really have a feel for what is worth it I was thinking of doing software engineering but I’m not sure.

I’d appreciate any advice you can give me I understand some of you will come in with the advice that I should follow what I’m passionate in but I’d rather find my passion in something that pays well then lose it in something that doesn’t, also some will say I should do trades or nursing but I’d rather not, not much else to say about that.
