How to stay prepared while waiting for training and working?

Question

Hi guys, looking for a bit of advice from anyone who’s been in a similar position.

I’ve passed AIB for Royal Marines Officer and was getting ready for my PJFA and OSC. Unfortunately, I’ve just been told the officer intake is full, so I’ll now likely have to wait until the 2027 intake before starting training.

I’m currently 22 and will probably be 24 by the time I start. The plan is to take a graduate job in London and work there while I wait.

My main concern is staying fit for another year while working. I’ve spent a long time preparing and feel like I’m in good shape now, but I don’t want to let my fitness slip while working a 9-5.

Has anyone else had a long wait before starting training? How did you structure your training and stay focused? Looking back, what would you recommend focusing on over that extra year?

Any advice would be appreciated.
