I (26F) developed feelings for a guy (24M) in my friend group. We talked, went out, kissed a few times, and there was some emotional and physical intimacy, but he repeatedly told me he wasn’t interested in a relationship with me and didn’t feel a romantic connection.

Despite that, we stayed in contact for months. During that time, he openly dated, hooked up with, or pursued other women, including women from our social circle. One thing that especially hurt was that he seemed sexually interested in other women but not in me, which left me questioning my attractiveness and self-worth.

I have an anxious attachment style, so I kept hoping he would change his mind if I stayed close, remained a good friend, or showed him enough care. Instead, I became increasingly preoccupied with what he was doing, who he was seeing, and whether he might eventually choose me.

A few months ago I blocked him and left the friend group to create distance. The problem is that I still find myself wondering if I gave up too soon and whether staying in contact could have changed the outcome.

My question is: Did I lose a chance, or am I having trouble accepting that he wasn’t interested?
