Love filming travel reels at airports? You may want to be more careful.

India's aviation regulator, the DGCA, has issued stricter guidelines on photography and videography at airports. Filming in sensitive areas such as security checkpoints, runways, tarmacs, airfield operations, or other restricted zones could lead to serious consequences, including fines, confiscation of devices, denied boarding, and even placement on the No-Fly List.

The concern is that social media videos often capture security-related information that could compromise airport safety. Authorities are particularly focused on the growing trend of travellers making Instagram reels, YouTube vlogs, and TikTok-style videos inside airports.

Casual photos in public terminal areas are generally not the main target of these rules. However, passengers should avoid filming security equipment, restricted areas, airport staff performing security duties, or military-linked airport infrastructure.

The message from aviation authorities is simple: before hitting "Record" at an airport, make sure you're not filming in a prohibited area. A viral reel isn't worth risking your next flight.
