Moral Question - Catering order
I’ve got a moral question for you guys, this happened to me yesterday
You’re doing a DoorDash order. It’s outsourced from ezcater to DoorDash. They accidentally put the wrong address for order pickup in, 20 min out the way. You arrive to a residential neighborhood. You call, figure it out, inform customer, and go to the right restaurant. You go to a qdoba and pickup the order. DoorDash isn’t letting you tap the you’re here option, and says wait for support, you decide to load your car in the meantime since customer stated she needs order ASAP. You load the car, DoorDash contacts you back and makes the decision to cancel the order. You have roughly $300-400 worth of food in your trunk. Due to legality issues, you cannot return the food to the store. The customer previously was freaking out, saying she had a meeting and needed the food at a specific time. Since it got cancelled, you won’t be paid at all
Support was contacted but they delete all chats so you can’t contact the customer. You do have a iffy number but it’s temp from DoorDash so you can call them
Options :
Option A : Keep the food. You have no money to begin with and this could feed you and your family for a week
Option B : Find the customers contact info and deliver the food. You won’t be paid whatsoever and there’s no guarantee of a tip. If you do deliver, they get the food for free
What do you choose, you can only choose one option
(For reference, I chose B, I spent a hour and a half on the order and didn’t get paid a dime. Customer got full refund)
