This is a genuine question, and I mean no offense to women.
Why is there often an expectation that men should pay for dates, movies, shopping trips, cafés, and similar activities? I frequently see posts and reels where people say that a man should always cover the full bill, and some even consider it a red flag if he doesn't.
I'm not saying women never spend money on their boyfriends or partners. Many absolutely do. What I'm curious about is why, in some relationships, the expectation seems to be that the man should pay every time, even when both people are enjoying the date equally.
Personally, I feel that dating should be a shared experience, and both people can contribute in different ways, including financially when possible. But maybe I'm missing something or looking at it from the wrong perspective.
So I'd like to hear different viewpoints. Why do some people believe men should always pay? Is it tradition, culture, personal preference, or something else?
If you think my perspective is flawed, feel free to tell me why. I'm asking respectfully and I'm open to hearing other opinions.
P.S. English is not my first language, so I used ChatGPT to help fix grammatical mistakes and improve readability. The opinions and question are still my own.
