Finished A Year Of Project Pan/No Buy
Yesterday, I finished my last bit of perfume to add to my empties. I officially started my project in June 2025 but I only took it seriously in September.
Unfortunately, I had thrown away any empties I've had between June and Sept but 32+ products have been panned. I also have away 2 eyeshadow pallets that were gifted to me, to friends since I don't wear makeup.
So, why did I start Project Pan?
Initially, it was because I was becoming overwhelmed with the amount of gifts I've received during birthdays and Christmas in the past 2 years that I never gotten a chance to use.
I had also bought a bunch of products just before the project because my ex thought I wasn't hygienic enough because of the KP on my arms (I only found what it was in the second half of 2025.)
Though, the products I accumulated wasn't excessive, it was still a lot to me and I enjoy having the minimum.
What Were The Benefits?
- Cleared clutter, created more space, less anxiety.
- I've built solid simple routines with products that work and I can repurchase. Less is great for my skin - A 3 step shower routine, a 4 step skincare routine, 3 step hair routine, 3 step dental routine. It has helped me glow up!
- Just because it's expensive doesn't mean it'll work and it will definitely won't last long considering how small the packaging is compared to cheaper alternatives. For example: £5 sunscreen lasts me a year and £15 sunscreen lasted me a month or less because of the significantly less product! Just not worth the money, I'm afraid.
- Stopped believing influencers/social media reviews completely. I stick to my own research, ask friends or family for suggestions, use website reviews.
- Learned some products won't do anything at all to my skin.
- I found my go-to shop (Superdrug) and mostly purchase its own-brand. It's cheap and my skin loves it and so does my wallet! Plus, I get loyalty points from every purchase.
- Overconsumption makes me sick to my stomach. That used to be money!
Downsides?
- Project Pan fatigue hit last month and so did the anxiety. I couldn't focus on anything else and just wanted it to end the last bits I had left. Glad its over now.
What's Next?
Going to continue with my new and improved habits and routines. Will start focusing on my KP a lot more, and moisturising consistently has helped a lot but hopefully I can create a KP routine to manage it more. One product at a time.
