WooCommerce vs Shopify: When did WordPress win or lose for you?

I keep seeing the same debate everywhere, but most answers feel more like assumptions than real experience.

From actual projects when did WooCommerce genuinely outperform Shopify for you, and when did Shopify clearly feel like the better choice? Was it cost, performance, flexibility, or something else that changed your mind?

Also curious have you ever regretted choosing one over the other after scaling the project?
