Does anyone else feel like closing line value is overrated for most recreational bettors?

I keep seeing CLV talked about like it’s the ultimate proof of good betting decisions. And I get it in theory—beating the closing line should correlate with long-term success.

But for most recreational bettors, I’m starting to think it’s a bit overemphasized. A lot of people I know (myself included at times) will have “good CLV” over a small sample just by betting early or getting lucky timing… while still losing money overall because of poor stake management or emotional betting.
