Necropolis Tour Advice

Hi, thanks for taking time to read this one. I’m looking for advice on Vatican tours for early July.

We currently have Vatican Museum entry for 8:00am and put in a request for a St Peter’s Basilica tour for 12:30 a few months ago.

While we were waiting to hear back on that tour and not knowing if we’d get in, we booked a St Peter’s grotto and dome climb tour for 12:30, which is cancelable.

Today we just heard back that we can get into the Necropolis tour but at 14:30 not 12:30.

I understand that the grotto and necropolis are not the same thing but I’m looking for advice on whether it makes sense to cancel the Viator tour and hang around Vatican until 14:30 to do the Necropolis? Or just keep the initial tour as is.

Will there be plenty that we would want to do and see in between the museums and 14:30? Or is it most likely not worth it and better to just stick with original itinerary and be free to move on to something else?
