Welcome to Wroom
đź‘‹ Welcome to Wroom!
Hey everyone,
this subreddit is the early home of Wroom, a self-hosted media platform I’m currently building from scratch.
What is Wroom?
wroom is a system that lets you stream your own media (movies, series, anime, etc.) from your own home server, but in a way that feels simple and modern.
Think:
- your own media library
- accessible anywhere
- with a Netflix-like interface
- without relying on big cloud storage providers
Why I’m building this
Most existing tools in this space feel like a trade-off:
- powerful, but complicated to set up
- or simple, but locked into ecosystems you don’t control
I wanted something that:
- actually feels easy to use
- works across devices
- and still keeps your data fully under your control
So I started building Wroom.
Current status
Right now, Wroom is in active development.
What already exists:
- basic web interface (library + player)
- home server media scanning
- streaming pipeline (direct + adaptive streaming)
- early architecture for sharing and watch features
What’s coming next:
- watch parties (synchronized viewing)
- shared home servers (family/friends access)
- content request system
- TV app support
What this subreddit is for
This is not a “finished product” community.
It’s a place for:
- development updates
- feedback and ideas
- feature discussions
- early testers and builders
If you’re here early
You’re basically seeing this at the beginning.
If you’re into:
- self-hosting
- media servers
- building tools that replace SaaS platforms
- or just curious how this evolves
then welcome, you’re in the right place.
Feedback is welcome
If something sounds interesting, unnecessary, or confusing — say it.
This project is being shaped while it’s being built.
Thanks for checking it out. More updates soon.
