New to usenet, radarr setup

Sorry in advance for what are probably very basic questions -

Completely new to usenet and having setup provider indexer downloader I noticed I was getting missing articles even on files uploaded even within the last couple of days ( I thought missing articles were for older uploads based on initial reading around?)

So although I don’t really need any automating I setup Radarr 

Im looking for roughly 8-12gb per hour in terms of size so within quality - settings, I set all 1080p to look for this size, then when adding a file I set the quality profile to HD1080p

The problem I am having each time is that even when I look on the indexer and there is a file of the correct size uploaded in the last couple of days, the files Radarr seems to pick are all much much older (the last 2 I did were 1000 and 3000 days old) and In addition the files uploaded years ago seem to be much slower

(I was under the impression that the age should not impact the speed - am I wrong about that?)

I am sure I am just not setting up Radarr correctly so I was wondering if someone could help me with this.

Fwiw I have this all setup on my Mac rather than in docker
