dealing with FOMO

Career

This is an odd post. Many won’t relate. Hopefully, someone can offer some advice.

I work at a FAANG as a PM (15 yr exp). Pretty good at what I do, get paid well, no issues. I’m slightly dissatisfied with my manager but isn’t that part of life?

A start up that raised an insane amount in series A, ran by a CEO of a company acquired into our org, is heading it up. It’s in excellent shape, but of course, is a startup. TC seems to be the same as what I make today, naturally without publicly traded stocks or the “guarantee” (for what it’s worth today) of a FAANG.

I am able to move into this start up. It’ll require a bit of work, however my connections there run deep enough. It does risk exposure in my current org, as folks are deeply connected still, and that may cost some political capital plus increase risk during layoff waves.

The work there would be harder and more involved, but more fulfilling and get to build from ground up.

Is it worth making the move solely off of this info? I’m having such a hard time deciding and really no one to confide in with this, as everyone i interact with is not a PM…
