Just an observation about the Finals conversations

This is a weird one, but I've been noticing it a LOT lately. There are dozens of new posts about the finals - most of them titled something like: "Do the Knicks have a chance?", "Can the Knicks do it?", "Are the Knicks strong enough to take on Wemby?", you get the point... The Knicks have been immediately and intensely labeled the underdog here. Maybe we are. We swept the Spurs in the regular season and match up with them really well in my opinion. We basically swept the east in the postseason as well, but obviously it's the east so it means nothing.

Anyway, this post isn't really about that. What I'm really noticing, is that Spurs fans seem to be the only ones in those posts that actually recognize that we're a legitimate threat. Typically, the opposing team is the one to talk the most shit, but I haven't been seeing that. On either side, really. Spurs fans recognize that we are good as hell and are going to be problematic. Knicks fan feel the same about the Spurs. They WILL be our toughest match up of the post-season. We genuinely have a mutual respect for one another.

So what's with everyone else? Is it just an intense hatred of the Knicks and maybe even NYC that drive so many people to not even consider us as contenders lol? Why is it that the two teams playing recognize how either team can win this ring, but other fans are almost exclusively on the spurs?
