TCGplayer "low" price is garbage and if you use it for trading away older cards where condition matters, you're getting ripped off
I recently imported my trade binder into TCGPlayer to sell it and I am FLOORED with how bad TCGPlayer "low" is now, and everyone seems to use it for offers or thinking it's fair.
I have a good number of older, high value foils where condition matters a LOT. An HP copy will go for 40% or less of the NM foil price, because the premium price matters a lot for condition. It is WILD to see the variation between the cheapest a card is listed for and the TCGPlayer "low" price.
For many cards, especially newer ones or regular playables, TCGPlayer Low is only about 10% lower than the "lowest price a card is available to buy for" or about 10-15% lower than TcgPlayer "Market price".
But when you get into the older high value stuff where the gap between HP and NM is huge, TCGPlayer low is 40-50% LOWER than the LOWEST listing to buy a card for. That's not what a card is worth, especially when it's not 40% lower across the board, only for cards where a lot of beat up copies are listed for cheap.
So maybe it's useful if you're buying a collection just based off a card list and the person has no idea what condition anything is. But if you know you have NM stuff, or are trading away NM older foils and both are using TCGLow without checking what the card actually sells for, you're going to lose a lot of money.
