[21/F] Book Buddies for Essay Exchange
As a maths major, writing essays is something I genuinely miss, so I thought why not find one or two people to read a book with over the summer and actually write about it?
The idea is simple: we pick a book, discuss it along the way, and at the end exchange short essays or written reflections. It doesn't have to be a formal five-paragraph essay, but if you want to go that route, even better.
I'd love it to be an ongoing thing throughout the summer, ideally a new book every other week if we're feeling ambitious. I've been in a reading slump for a while, but with summer here I'm out of excuses.
Here are some I've been considering, though I'm very open to suggestions:
- The Hour of the Star — Lispector
- What We Talk About When We Talk About Love — Raymond Carver
- Convenience Store Woman — Murata
- Killers of the Flower Moon — David Grann
- The Adventures and Misadventures of Maqroll — Álvaro Mutis
If you're a reader who likes to think about books after you've finished them, or you just miss having a reason to write properly but have a hard time coming up with topics, then I think we'd get along well. DM me with what you've been reading lately!
