Broken down less than 2 months from new and Ford dealer not allowed to fix it
Bought a brand new 26 model Explorer and collected it end of March. Last Monday while driving to my Mum’s funeral it went into limp mode and said electric drive not working properly.
Ford sent a recovery vehicle out but as it was a bank holiday couldn’t give me a replacement car (thankfully my brother in law drove an hour to collect us). It was delivered to a nearby Ford garage on the Tuesday but heard nothing else that day.
When I rang them the next day, they said they needed to order parts but it would be ready to collect Saturday. Said they couldn’t provide me a courtesy car. Asked if they could transport it to my local garage when it’s ready as they’re an hour away from me, they said they can’t do that.
Saturday morning they said the parts came in too late in the day and now nobody could work on it until Monday. I asked again for a courtesy car - again told they can’t give me one.
Monday they said the repair needed can’t actually be done by them and they need to get an engineer out which is likely to be a 3 week wait. No idea how they didn’t figure that out last week in the first place. They finally relent and say they’ll get Ford Hire to send a car to my house (at this point I’m spending £80 a day on train tickets to travel 2.5 hours each way to work).
Today (Tuesday) there’s no sign of a car so I ring garage again, say the request for a hire car has been approved and “Ford Hire” (Enterprise) will be in touch soon to deliver a car. Still waiting.
2 months old and 2500 miles on the clock, didn’t really expect this. Also didn’t expect the absolutely awful service from Ford given how much they charge for the car.
