Getting UK Emergency Travel Document in US

Has anyone applied for a UK Emergency Travel Document while in the US in the last few months? Did you have to physically go to the UK consulate or were you able to do the whole application online? How did you receive the ETD? USPS? UPS/Fedex? Thanks in advance!
