35M East Coast: The Lost Art of Real Friendship: Looking for Genuine Connections in a Busy World

Reddit DM

Making friends as an adult is kind of absurd.
When we were kids, all it took was sitting next to someone in class or finding out you both liked the same movie, and suddenly you had a new best friend.
Now everyone seems buried in work, obligations, endless notifications, and whatever chaos adulthood decided to throw at us.
So I’ll keep this simple.
I’m hoping to meet genuine people.
People who enjoy conversations that go a little deeper than small talk.
People who can joke around, be themselves, and still talk about the things that actually matter.
People who understand that good friendships take a little effort and are worth it.
I stay busy and work hard, but one thing I’ve learned is that life is a lot more enjoyable when you have solid people around you.
Not perfect people.
Just real ones.
The friends who reply to random messages.
The friends who check in.
The friends who can turn an ordinary day into something memorable.
A little about me: I’m into fitness, cooking, reading, traveling, spending time outdoors, trying new experiences, and getting lost in great conversations.
I admire people who are driven but grounded.
Confident without being arrogant.
Successful without losing their sense of humor or kindness.
I’m not interested in collecting contacts or building a list of acquaintances.
I’d rather have a handful of meaningful friendships than a thousand shallow connections.
If you’re someone who values loyalty, good energy, sarcasm, genuine conversation, and friendships that actually last, I’d love to hear from you.
Maybe we swap a few stories and that’s it.
Or maybe a random message ends up becoming one of those friendships neither of us saw coming.
