Do rivalry stats just not work for anyone else?

I have not played a whole lot this season but wanted to at least get the first umbrella but for some reason the numbers are not making any sense and some kills do not even seem to add to the total. I have been playing since Ch1S4 so I am very familiar with the game and its quirks but this just seems completely broken to be honest and contacting support for a cosmetic can be really annoying and difficult. Am I missing anything? The 143/160 is really throwing me off since I have the goal for 150 completed and that was a few hours ago not to mention the leaderboard saying 161.
