Backrooms Director Kane Parsons on "Growing up in the Black Lodge"
KANE PARSONS: Oz [Perkins] dragged me to the theater, and we watched Eraserhead, which was a great time, when I first got there, as a sort of palate cleanser for getting into Backrooms. So, I can say that much.
And I can say I, of course, metabolized a lot of information over the years. Like, random anecdotally, my dad, around the time my parents separated, and he had his own place for a little bit, he's an eccentric guy, and he decorated the entirety of the interior of this space in the house he was renting with those red curtains. It was the zigzag carpet. It was the Twin Peaks sort of... I don't know what it's referred to directly as, but the dreamscape sort of environment. So, I sort of spent a lot of time growing up...
RENATE REINSVE: Oh, he did that deliberately?
PARSONS: Yeah. He’s a big fan of Twin Peaks, so I grew up kind of in that a little bit, literally that. But that's anecdotal.
REINSVE: That explains so much.
