How am I supposed to love the part of myself that just makes me worse than everyone else? Genuine question.

General Question/Discussion

This post is written like a vent post, but I am looming for genuine feedback and advice. I'm just upset about the topic at hand.

Many a time, when I talk with others in the community about my struggles with ADHD, there seems to be the persistent idea that I shouldn't feel sad or upset about my ADHD, and in some cases, even happy about it. How am I meant to do that?

It makes everything harder. Literally, absolutely everything I could ever need to do or want to do is made harder because I can't focus and doing chores causes physical pain. Even things I enjoy pose the same struggles. And I hear sometimes the notion that it can even be a benefit, that I can hyperfocus on some things, but not only such a phenomenon rare, it only ever happens for video games, after which I feel tired, drained, guilty, and have a headache. And on top of that, this is only thanks to medicine, as otherwise I can't focus at all, let alone hyperfocus, on anything, even video games.

I've also been told that it's because of how our capitalistic society is setup that causes my problems, and in a different society, I would thrive. This cannot be true. Even though capitalism does suck for many, many reasons, Fundamentally, per the very nature of the world and what there is to do in it, I would still be at a severe disadvantage due to having ADHD. I want to make art, something that requires focus and commitment. Most of all, I want to be a writer, and writing boils down to setting oneself before a sheet of paper and stringing words together, something that requires focus outright with no way around it.

With all this in mind, how in the world am I meant to love ADHD or love this version of me cursed with it?
