Why are stuff like Mario, Pokemon and Zelda more popular than Webkinz nowadays?

I'm only wondering because Mario and Zelda don't feel like they have as much to them as Webkinz. Webkinz has so much stuff like decorating rooms, answering trivia questions, playing arcade games and hunting for gems. Also putting clothes on your pet.

I find Pokemon cute, but I find it surprising it's still popular even though it came out in the 90s. Webkinz came out in 2005 and it's not popular anymore, even though the game still exists online. Mario and Zelda came out in the 80s and the games are still popular with the Mario movies doing really well financially.

Maybe it's because I'm not into action-y games, but why are those three more popular than Webkinz nowadays? Webkinz used to be huge, but now it's very niche.

This is more of a personal preference, but I find Mario and Zelda either not able to keep my attention like with Pokemon and Zelda or very overstimulating like with Mario. I absolutely love Webkinz and I find it incredibly cozy and adorable.
