A viral post claims Google is moving away from traditional search and replacing it with AI-generated answers.

The reality is more nuanced.

Yes, Google is investing heavily in AI through AI Overviews and AI Mode. Users are getting answers directly inside search results more often than ever before.

But Google itself responded and clarified:

Blue links are not going away.

Websites will still appear in search results.

AI Mode is not the default experience.

Search will continue to send traffic to the web.

What's actually changing?

 Users are searching differently.

AI is becoming the first layer of information discovery.

Brands now need to optimise for both search engines and AI assistants.

Being cited by AI systems is becoming as important as ranking on page one.

For SEOs, publishers, and business owners, the question is no longer:

"How do I rank #1 on Google?"

It's becoming:

"How do I become the source that Google, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity trust and cite?"

Google Search isn't dying.

It's evolving from a list of links into an answer engine powered by AI and the web together.

The winners won't be those who fight AI.

They'll be the ones who become the source AI relies on.

Google Search is dead" — Not so fast.
