I’m sure if Freud was a cat guy he would have had a field day with my tabby. A few weeks ago she started getting really cranky and wanting to go to bed around 9 pm out of the blue. Normally she snoozes on her blanket on the couch until we go up and then she follows suit, but she developed some weird ass aversion to the couch so it’s been a no-go.

So after the third night of being bullied into bed early, i decisively picked her up and put her into her little cat bed by our bed and tucked her in. She slept like an angel (until her usual waking hour or 3 am to see if we want to feed her - we don’t want to so she tries again at 6). Did the same thing the next few nights, worked like a charm. She cries, I carry her up, she zonks.

Except NOW she is back on the couch (aversion managed I guess) until we head up. But - we have to get to the top of the stairs, wait for her to cry at the bottom, and then carry her fat ass up to her bed now. Cannot pre-emotively carry her, or without enough protest. She will go back down the stairs and wait for us to correctly do it.

I don’t mind at all because i love her so much but seriously this is the weirdest bed time routine. We had friends visiting who are strictly dog people and trying to explain cat parenting to them is like explaining algebra to a toddler. Anyways just wanted to see if anyone else has insane bedtime stories or if we are just that crazy.

My baby must be carried up the stairs protesting profusely or she won’t sleep
