I hate that psychiatric drugs ruined my childhood
My parents put me on Ritalin when I was 8, and then Adderall and Paxil when I was 10. I had to spend eight years of my childhood on medications that were supposed to make my life better. They didn't. Not only didn't they, they made my life worse. My tics which were mild at worst when I was off them became out of control. I got sent to the principals office loads of times for that. Not only that but the anxiety and anger they gave me made me explode at people, act out, and generally push people away for YEARS. To make things even worse, by the time I got home every night, I was so out of energy, I had no energy for homework, making me fail at most of my schoolwork. Did my parents or doctors think that maybe the medicine was behind this? No, it was me. It was all just me, doing it to myself. Because of course I just wanted to fail, and act out. I guess the drugs were only supposed to do positive things, but anything else they did was my fault. I'm still not sure I ever figured out what the positive was supposed to be.
You may be thinking, ah but perhaps it was just age, how do you KNOW it was the drugs? Well when I was 16 I figured out that if I read the side effects and tell my doctor that it was happening, I could get off of it. So I did. So once that happened suddenly, my grades go up, suddenly I'm not pushing people away. Of course, whenever I asked my parents, isn't it funny that once the medicine you FORCED me to take went away, suddenly everything got better? Crickets.
I'm sorry I was such a rowdy and annoying child so much that you had to drug me. Fuck them, and fuck my doctors. I'm never putting my kids on any of this shit, unless they come to me and beg me because they think their lives are unbearable. Even then, I probably won't let them.
The end
